Is it ever too soon to start thinking about the Masters? We say no, of course not, it's never is too early to start thinking about the Masters.
With that in mind, it's notable that Thursday, Oct. 8, marks the six-months-out mark to the first round of the 2027 Masters. We can almost smell the pimento cheese from here.
The next rendition of the first men's major on the calender every year will be the 91st playing of a tournament that was oiginally called the Augusta National Invitation Tournament.
When is the 2027 Masters?
The next time we see the best collection of men's golfers in the world will be April 8-11 at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. The full ANGC festivities actually start the week before with the Augusta National Women's Amateur, March 31-April
3, followed by the National Drive, Chip and Putt finals, Sunday, April 4. The Par 3 Contest is set for Wednesday, April 7.
Who is the defending champion at the Masters?
He's actually the two-time defending champion and it is, of course, Rory McIlroy. He became the fourth golfer to win the green jacket in consecutive years, joining Jack Nicklaus (1965, 1966), Nick Faldo (1989, 1990) and Tiger Woods (2001, 2002). McIlroy is seeking to be the first to win three in a row.
How did Jack, Nick and Tiger do in their three-peat quests?
- In 1967, Nicklaus posted a second-round 79 and missed the cut by a shot
- In 1991, Faldo tied for 12th
- In 2003, Woods shot 76-73-66-75 and tied for 15th
How can you get tickets to the Masters?
Well, for 2027, you can't, not through official channels at least. The Masters does an annual application process which opens June 1 and closes June 20. Shortly after that, fans lucky enough to get their name drawn were notified. The process for 2028 is a ways off but maybe put a reminder on your calendar now.
Where is the best place to fly into for the Masters?
If you managed to score some tickets, the next step is get a room somewhere, and then you need to book your flight. Augusta Regional Airport is the closest, with Atlanta, Columbia, South Carolina, and Charlotte, North Carolina, all within a 160-mile radius. New in 2027: Delta is planning up to 20 direct daily flights into Augusta (AGS), the most its ever offered.
Can I get a job and work at the Masters?
Yes, you can. Augusta National is now taking applications through Dec. 1 for the variety of jobs on site, including overnight sandwich prep. Other jobs include beverage attendant, cashier bartender, housekeeping and forklift driver.
