The 2026 Bank of Utah Championship concluded Sunday, which means only six events remain for players to lock up their PGA Tour status for the 2027 season.
There is plenty on the line in the FedEx Cup Fall, from spots in the first two signature events at Pebble Beach and Riviera to simply locking up a PGA Tour card for another season. After the second event of the fall at Black Desert Resort in Ivins, Utah, there was plenty of movement in the Aon Next 10, which awards spots into two signature events in 2027, but only one player moved from outside the top 100 inside.
Austin Smotherman, the 32-year-old from California, picked up his first PGA Tour win in the desert, and in doing so moved to No. 51 in the fall standings, the highest position a player
can go. He was one of three players to move into the top 10 (aka Nos. 51-60) with runner-up Doug Ghim and PGA Tour rookie Ben James, who has finished top five in three straight events, also moving up.
Heading down the standings, Billy Horschel was the only player to move into the top 100, going from No. 101 to 94. He knocked out Tony Finau, who sits at No. 104 with six events left, though Finau is exempt through 2027.
However, there are plenty of players without guaranteed status in 2027 and beyond who have a lot to play for the next six weeks.
