We're less than a year away from the 46th edition of the Ryder Cup.
Adare Manor in Ireland will host the visiting United States team, which will try to win on foreign soil for the first time since 1993. Meanwhile, the Europeans will be going for their third straight win behind captain Luke Donald, who is back for the third time looking for more wins than any other European captain in the competition's history.
Donald and U.S. captain Jim Furyk, who led the stars and stripes at Le Golf National in Paris in 2018, were at Adare Manor this week for a "Year to Go" celebration, the unofficial kickoff of the events leading up to the 2027 Ryder Cup. On Tuesday, the captains participated in a press conference and discussed plans leading up to the biennial
bash.
"It's hard to speak highly enough about this place," Donald said. "I was with J.P. (McManus) a couple weeks ago and he said something that kind of landed with me. He said, 'You never get a second chance to make a first impression.' And you know, when you walk in the doors here at Adare, you meet the people, the staff, that make this place so special. Every time you come back, they remember your name. Every time you come back, they give you a feeling of being very welcomed. I think that is certainly the feeling I get when I come here. It's a very blessed, very special place to come. I think it will be a very special venue for the Ryder Cup."
