It had been nearly a year since Scarlett Schremmer competed in a college golf event. Her return was nothing short of stellar.
The sophomore at Miami, who played in two events at Texas A&M as a freshman before transferring to Coral Gables, won her Hurricane debut Tuesday, firing a 5-under 67 in the final round of the Boilermaker Classic at Kampen-Cosler Golf Course in Indiana to claim medalist honors by a shot over Ole Miss' Lisa Herman at 6-under 210. The win is the first of the former Class of 2025 No. 2 recruit's collegiate career.
Schremmer made the turn at 4 under for the day but gave a stroke back on the par-4 15th hole. She rebounded with birdies on the next two holes and finished with a par to claim the individual title. It's another win
on her resume this year, in addition to victories at the Ladies NGA Amateur and Women's Southern Amateur, titles that helped her claim the Women's Elite Amateur Series Cup.
Schremmer wasn't the only Hurricane to have a stellar finish, either. Teammate Olivia Gronborg, a fifth-year who did not play a tournament during her senior season and redshirted, matched Schremmer with a closing 67, moving 12 spots up the leaderboard to finish tied for third at 2 under overall. Freshman Bella Dovhey placed solo eighth, helping Miami top Ole Miss by five shots for the team title.
Mississippi State, Purdue and North Florida rounded out the top five in the team competition.
