Another son of a European Ryder Cup stalwart has committed to play college golf at the University of Florida.
Karl Stenson, the son of 2016 Champion Golfer of the Year Henrik Stenson, announced Saturday he was committing to Florida. Stenson, who is a junior in high school, will be a part of the Gators' 2028 signing class.
"I want to sincerely thank Head Coach J.C. Deacon and Associate Head Coach Dudley Hart for the opportunity, trust, and belief they have shown in me throughout this process," Stenson said in a post on Instagram. "I’m incredibly excited to join the Gator family, compete at the highest level, and represent the University of Florida on and off the course.
"And to my parents, thank you for believing in me, supporting every step of
this journey, and helping me reach this point."
Stenson will follow in the steps of Luke Poulter, the son of Ian Poulter, who is a senior at Florida this season. Poulter is also ranked in the top 10 of the World Amateur Golf Ranking and a member of the Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup team for the second straight year.
Stenson, a rising junior at Circle Christian School in Orlando, Florida, is No. 118 in The Universal Golf Ranking and 15th in the Class of 2028.
