Amidst the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the DP World Tour is continuing as scheduled with its two playoff events.
A DP World Tour spokesperson told Golfweek that the Abu Dhabi Alder Championship and the DP World Tour Championship, set for next month in the United Arab Emirates, will be held as scheduled. This news comes on the heels of the Asian Tour announced its PIF Saudi International
season finale was postponed in Saudi Arabia."It is our intention to play the two playoff events as scheduled in the UAE next month, but we continue to monitor the situation and take advice from our international travel advisors," a DP World Tour spokesperson told Golfweek.
Earlier this month, the HotelPlanner Tour held an event in the UAE, and the buildouts
at both Yas Links and Jumeirah are underway and progressing well, the spokesperson said.
The Asian Tour's postponement comes on the heels of a strike hitting King Khalid International Airport on Oct. 11, a day after an attack killed at least 13 people at the same airport. King Khalid is about 30 minutes from Riyadh Golf Club, site of the PIF Saudi International.
No reports of strikes in the UAE have emerged since May 17, but the DP World Tour is continuing to keep an eye on the conflicts in the Middle East as the playoffs approach.
