A private golf club located in Bucks County about 30 miles northeast of Philadelphia was the target of hate-filled vandalism over the weekend, according to the Bucks County Courier Times, part of the USA Today Network.
According to the Yardley Borough Police Department, someone damaged portions of Yardley Country Club's greens sometime between 8 p.m. on Sept. 25 and 7 a.m. on Sept. 26, carving racial slurs and swastika symbols into the turf.
Police condemned the act in a statement posted to social media.
"This type of behavior is not only a criminal act, but it is also hateful, offensive and has no place in our community," the department said. "The Yardley Borough Police Department is committed to thoroughly investigating this incident and holding
those responsible accountable."
The extent of the damage has not been disclosed, and officials had not released any information about possible suspects as of Wednesday morning.
The golf course was founded nearly a decade ago in 1928 and designed by the renowned Scottish-born golf architects and brothers Frederick and Alexander H. Findlay
