Charlie Woods' run at the Junior PGA Championship has come to an end.
Woods shot 5-over 77 on Thursday at PGA Frisco Fields Ranch East Course in Frisco, Texas, tumbling down the leaderboard and well outside the 54-hole cut mark. The Junior PGA Championship not only has a 36-hole cut but also a 54-hole cut, meaning Woods' time in Texas is done.
He had three birdies on the day, but those were offset with six squares on the scorecard and a double.
Although the third round wouldn't be final until later Thursday, Woods' total score of 6 over was 5 shots outside the projected cut line when his day was finished. Last year, he finished T-9 at the Junior PGA Championship.
Last week, Woods failed to advance from a 14-for-2 playoff to get into match play at the
U.S. Junior Amateur after a furious second-round rally just to get into the playoff. The rising high school senior also came up short in qualifying for the U.S. Amateur, which begins in 11 days at Merion in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.
Woods, a Florida State commit, is set to begin his senior season at Benjamin School in Florida this fall. As a junior, Woods was the No. 1 bag and had the best final-round score to help Benjamin win the state championship. It was the second state championship of his career, as he was a freshman on the 2023 team that also won a state title.
The boys and girls leaders at the Junior PGA Championship were set to tee off Thursday afternoon.
