Tiger Woods and his TGR Design company have signed on to redevelop the site of the former Tam O’Shanter Country Club into a new private golf course and club on Long Island in Brookville, New York.

The new 18-hole course will be part of the Armchair Collective, a new private golf company that promises on its website to develop courses with a focus on high-end design. TGR Design says on its website that the new course “draws inspiration from the region’s storied architectural heritage while embracing the modern golfer.” Plans are for the new club’s name and more details to be released in 2027.
TGR Design goes on to say:
Beyond the private golf course, the project will include a state-of-the-art practice environment, short game facilities and a Himalayas-style
putting course, creating a golf experience that extends well beyond the round itself for its members and their guests.
The property was originally part of the Linden Estate, officially known as Linden Hill, and was built around 1915. The property’s agricultural heritage carries forward, and the existing farm structures will be thoughtfully repurposed to create distinctive destinations across the site. The historic milk barn will serve as a comfort station overlooking the putting course and short-game area, while the existing barn will be transformed into overnight accommodations for members and their guests.
Together, these elements create a private retreat and golf experience that celebrates this truly unique piece of land, only 21 miles from Midtown Manhattan in New York City.
Tam O’Shanter Country Club’s course opened in the 1960s and closed in 2021. Plans for the 148-acre site included the development of luxury homes, but arsenic was discovered on the land that was once a farm. Remediation of the site to make it suitable for golf is much less extensive than it would be for homes, and the Village of Brookville changed its local codes in 2025 to allow for-profit clubs to operate on the site, Newsday reported at the time.
