As the slow drip continues, Tyrrell Hatton is the latest big name to say he's leaving LIV Golf. The fiery Englishman announced Friday on Instagram that he will not be part of what has been described as LIV 2.0, adding another significant departure as the league attempts to reshape its future.
“Wanted to confirm that I will not be a part of LIV 2.0,” Hatton wrote. “A big thank you to everyone for their continued support. I am excited for what the next chapter of my career holds.
“Looking forward to seeing you all in Abu Dhabi.”
Hatton’s announcement comes on the heels of Ian Poulter and Louis Oosthuizen announcing their intentions to leave LIV, continuing a notable
run of departures from a league that is working through Chapter 11 bankruptcy and trying to determine what its next version will look like. BC Partners, the company that agreed to fund the league if it can meet certain stipulations like retaining a percentage of players, originally set a date of Oct. 13 for LIV to receive player commitments, but that was pushed back to Oct. 25.
Poulter had been there from the beginning, playing in LIV’s inaugural event in June 2022 before becoming one of the leaders of Majesticks GC alongside Lee Westwood and Henrik Stenson.
Now Hatton is following them out the door.
Unlike Poulter and Oosthuizen, Hatton offered little explanation in his announcement beyond saying he was excited about the next chapter of his career. But his departure adds another prominent name to the growing list of players choosing not to be part of LIV’s proposed reboot.
