The TGL golf league has brought a fun brand of hybrid golf to Florida — and TV viewers — for the past two years. Sunday brings some of the best players from women's golf into the mix with the inaugural season of WTGL.
It's the first big expansion of the indoor golf enterprise co-founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy in 2022. Five teams made of top talent from the LPGA will take part in seven weeks of competition at SoFi Center, the high-tech complex that houses an IMAX-size driving screen and a 5,270-square-foot morphing "Green Zone" when it comes time for the short game.
There are 25 players on the league's five teams, with popular players such as Rose Zhang and a pregnant Lexi Thompson joining 10 of the top 20 players in the game, headlined
by No. 2 Jeeno Thitikul, No. 5 Ruoning Yin, No. 7 Lottie Woad and No. 8 Charley Hull.
In all, WTGL golfers have combined for 15 major titles and more than 100 LPGA victories. It also includes a Hall of Famer in Lydia Ko, whose New York Golf Club begins the season against Los Angeles Golf Club, whose men's side won the 2026 team title. LA features another well-known name in Michelle Wie West, who famously played in PGA Tour events as a 14-year-old, won the 2014 U.S. Women's Open and will make her return to competitive golf after a three-year absence.
