The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without four players when they host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, but their final injury report also brought some encouraging news ahead of Week 4.
Quarterback Baker Mayfield, edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr., tight end Ko Kieft and cornerback Benjamin Morrison have all been ruled out. Linebacker SirVocea Dennis, defensive lineman Rakeem Nuñez-Roches and cornerback Jacob Parrish are listed as questionable.
Mayfield's absence was already expected after he dislocated the thumb on his throwing hand in Tampa Bay's Week 3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels will make his first NFL start in his place against Green Bay.
Bain will miss his second consecutive game while dealing with groin and shoulder
injuries. The rookie did not practice at any point during the week, leaving Tampa Bay without its 2026 first-round draft pick once again.
Morrison is another significant loss for the defense. He was added to the injury report Thursday as a limited participant with a quad injury before sitting out Friday and being ruled out. His absence puts additional attention on Parrish, who missed Wednesday and Thursday for personal reasons before returning as a limited participant Friday. Parrish is officially questionable.
There was better news for several other Tampa Bay defenders. Yaya Diaby progressed from not practicing on Wednesday to limited participation on Thursday and full participation on Friday. Josiah Trotter was limited Wednesday before practicing fully on Thursday and Friday. Neither player received a game designation on the final report.
The Bucs also received encouraging news on offense, despite Mayfield's expected absence. Chris Godwin returned to full participation on Thursday and Friday after missing Wednesday with an ankle injury, while Bucky Irving progressed from limited participation in the first two practices to full participation on Friday. Neither carries a game designation.
Green Bay will be dealing with its own absences, including two along the offensive line. Guard Aaron Banks and center/guard Jacob Monk have both been ruled out after missing practice all week. Defensive linemen Warren Brinson and Anthony Campbell have also been ruled out, while linebacker Edgerrin Cooper and center/guard Jager Burton are questionable.
The Packers' offensive line injuries could provide an opportunity for a Tampa Bay pass rush that will again be without Bain. Diaby avoiding a game designation helps, while David Walker has been pushing for a larger role after making an impact over the past two weeks.
Tampa Bay isn't healthy heading into a game it badly needs at 0-3, but the final injury report wasn't entirely negative. Mayfield, Bain, Kieft and Morrison won't be available, but getting Diaby, Trotter, Godwin and Irving through the week without a game designation gives the Bucs some reinforcements as they look for their first win of the season.
