In week 5, Bucky Irving earned an impressive 91.7 Impact grade, the highest among all running backs across the league. His performance placed him alongside some of the NFL's biggest offensive stars, including New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, who earned a 92.4 grade, and Los Angeles Rams receiver Puka Nacua, who finished with an 88.3. For Irving, the recognition was well deserved after he completely dominated Dallas. The second-year running back rushed for a career-high 165 yards on 21 carries, averaging 7.9 yards per attempt. He also found the end zone twice, once as a runner and once as a receiver, giving Tampa Bay the offensive production it desperately needed. Bucky Irving didn't just help the Tampa Bay Buccaneers secure their
first win of the 2026 season against the Dallas Cowboys.
His biggest moment came on a 72-yard run to open the second half, showing exactly why he remains one of the most dangerous players on Tampa Bay's roster. Irving's combination of patience, vision, and acceleration makes him difficult to contain once he gets into the open field, and Dallas found that out repeatedly. What makes the performance even more impressive is how much responsibility Irving carried with rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels making his first career start. Rather than forcing Daniels to carry the offense through the air, Tampa Bay leaned on Irving to keep the Cowboys' defense honest and create opportunities for the passing game.
Through five games, Irving has accumulated 406 rushing yards on 77 carries, averaging 5.3 yards per attempt. He has also contributed 15 receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown, further establishing himself as one of Tampa Bay's most complete offensive weapons. The question now is whether offensive coordinator Zac Robinson will continue giving Irving the opportunities he deserves. Tampa Bay has struggled with offensive consistency throughout the season, but Irving has shown that he can change the outcome of a game when the offense runs through him. The Buccaneers have a legitimate difference-maker in their backfield, and there is little reason he shouldn't remain the focal point of their offense.
