The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are finally back at Raymond James Stadium for their home opener, but the Florida heat could be a factor when they take on the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
According to AccuWeather, temperatures are expected to sit in the upper 80s throughout the afternoon, but it will feel considerably hotter. At the 1 p.m. kickoff, the temperature is forecast to be 87 degrees, with a RealFeel of 101 and a heat index of 95. Conditions are expected to remain mostly cloudy with an ENE wind of just 6 mph.
It doesn't get much cooler as the day goes on. The temperature is expected to climb to 89 degrees at 2 p.m. and 90 degrees at 3 p.m., with RealFeel temperatures of 101 and 100 degrees. The heat index peaks at 97 degrees around 3 p.m. before
conditions begin to cool slightly later in the afternoon.
Rain doesn't appear to be a major concern, either. AccuWeather has the chance of rain between 20 and 26 percent from kickoff through 4 p.m., while winds are expected to remain around 6 mph throughout the game.
For the Bucs, playing in the Florida heat is nothing new. Cleveland will be the team traveling south and facing a RealFeel temperature that could reach 101 degrees, making hydration and heat management another factor to watch during Sunday's game.
