The Buccaneers may have found something special in Jacob Parrish, and his latest Pro Football Focus
ranking further shows how quickly he's becoming a difference-maker in Tampa Bay's secondary. Parrish has an 82.9 defensive grade, ranking fifth among all NFL cornerbacks this season. That puts him ahead of Seattle's Nehemiah Pritchett, Los Angeles' Emmanuel Forbes and Jaylen Watson, and Kansas City's Mansoor Delane.Parrish isn't simply putting together respectable performances or holding his own against opposing receivers. His grade puts him alongside some of the most dominant defensive backs in football, which is encouraging for a Tampa Bay defense that needs reliable play in the secondary. Parrish's emergence is particularly important because
of the timing. The Buccaneers have changed their cornerback room, and finding dependable coverage options has been a priority. Parrish gives Todd Bowles another defender who can compete with NFL receivers while providing the versatility that can be valuable in different defensive looks.
His development also gives Tampa Bay something to build around. The Bucs have repeatedly experienced growing pains at cornerback, especially when facing the level of quarterback play and receiver talent found throughout the NFL. Parrish has shown he can handle those challenges. Parrish is putting himself in impressive company and giving the Buccaneers another reason to feel encouraged about their secondary's future.
