The Tampa Bay Buccaneers dropped to 0-4 with a 17-14 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, but several individual performances graded well despite another close loss.
Safety Tykee Smith earned Tampa Bay's highest defensive grade from PFF at 90.4. Smith played 59 defensive snaps and also received a 94.2 run-defense grade, the highest individual grade in any category among the Bucs defenders.
Smith finished with five tackles and forced a fourth-quarter fumble by Packers running back Kaleb Johnson near Tampa Bay's goal line. Zyon McCollum recovered the fumble at the Bucs' 4-yard line, preventing Green Bay from extending its 17-14 lead.
A'Shawn Robinson finished second on the defense with an overall grade of 84.9. Robinson played 29 defensive snaps
and earned an 82.5 run-defense grade as Tampa Bay held Green Bay to 86 rushing yards on 25 attempts.
David Walker was PFF's third-highest graded Bucs defender at 84.5. Walker played 24 defensive snaps and generated two pressures, including two hurries, on 10 pass-rush snaps. He also received a 77.6 coverage grade and finished with two tackles.
Antoine Winfield Jr. earned an 81.9 grade before leaving the game with an injury. Winfield played 55 snaps and recorded six tackles and a forced fumble.
Rookie cornerback Jacob Parrish rounded out Tampa Bay's top five defensive grades at 78.9. Parrish played 59 defensive snaps and intercepted Jordan Love in the fourth quarter, returning the interception for 8 yards. PFF credited Parrish with allowing three receptions for 34 yards on six targets.
Tampa Bay held Green Bay to 283 total yards and two conversions on 10 third downs but finished without a sack. The Bucs recorded only two quarterback hits against Love.
On offense, Tristan Wirfs led Tampa Bay with an overall grade of 75.4. Wirfs played all 62 offensive snaps charted by PFF and earned a 90.2 pass-blocking grade on 37 pass-blocking snaps.
Wide receiver Ted Hurst finished second offensively with a 69.3 grade. Hurst played 24 snaps and caught two passes for 25 yards on three targets.
Left guard Ben Bredeson was third at 67.7, followed by Bucky Irving at 67.4 and Sean Tucker at 66.7. Irving carried 16 times for 61 yards, while Tucker turned his three offensive snaps into three carries for 10 yards and a two-yard touchdown.
Rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels earned an overall grade of 56.6 in his first NFL start. Daniels completed 19 of 27 passes for 148 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions while rushing eight times for 55 yards. He was sacked three times for a loss of 14 yards.
Emeka Egbuka received a 55.6 grade after catching two of his four targets for 13 yards. Right guard Cody Mauch finished with Tampa Bay's lowest offensive grade at 50.4, including a 44.0 run-blocking grade.
