The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will host the Pittsburgh Steelers at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday afternoon, and the weather should cooperate for the most part. However, wind could become something both teams have to account for throughout the game.
According to the AccuWeather hourly forecast for Raymond James Stadium, fans can follow the conditions leading up to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff. Other stadium-specific forecasts project temperatures around 77 degrees at kickoff, with partly cloudy skies and little to no chance of rain.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the upper 70s throughout the game, but northeast winds around 15 mph could make things interesting. Some forecasts project gusts approaching 29 mph, particularly as the afternoon progresses.
Those conditions could present challenges for rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels, who will make his third consecutive start while Baker Mayfield remains sidelined with a thumb injury. Pittsburgh quarterback Aaron Rodgers will also have to account for the wind, particularly on deeper throws where ball placement becomes more difficult.
The kicking game is another area worth watching. Tampa Bay's Chase McLaughlin and Pittsburgh's Chris Boswell could face difficult conditions on longer field-goal attempts if the stronger gusts develop. Punting and field position could also become more important depending on how the wind moves through the stadium.
Rain does not appear likely to interfere with Sunday's matchup, which is encouraging for both teams. Still, the wind could play a role in how Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh approach their passing game and special-teams decisions.
