The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be without wide receiver Jalen McMillan for an extended period after he left Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings with another knee injury.
ESPN's Jenna Laine reported that McMillan suffered a PCL sprain in his left knee, with early expectations that he could miss six to eight weeks. McMillan is seeking a second opinion, which is expected to provide more clarity on his recovery timetable.
The injury is an aggravation of the same left knee injury McMillan suffered during training camp rather than a new injury. That initial injury sidelined him for several weeks and kept him out of Tampa Bay's season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.
McMillan returned against the Cleveland Browns in Week 2 but played just seven
offensive snaps. He attempted to play again against Minnesota on Sunday but lasted only two offensive snaps before leaving with the knee injury.
It's another frustrating setback for McMillan after injuries have limited his opportunities over the past two seasons. He played in just four games in 2025 after suffering a significant neck injury during the preseason before returning late in the year.
Tampa Bay will now have to adjust its wide receiver rotation again. Emeka Egbuka and Chris Godwin remain at the top of the group, while rookie Ted Hurst has already taken on a larger role and scored his first career touchdown against Minnesota.
The second opinion should provide a clearer picture of exactly how long McMillan will be sidelined. For now, however, the early six-to-eight-week estimate means the Bucs could be without him for a significant portion of the season.
