The Dallas Cowboys will be without starting linebacker DeMarvion Overshown when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football. Overshown has officially been ruled out with a hamstring injury after missing practice all week.
Overshown suffered the injury during Dallas' Week 1 loss to the New York Giants and has not played since. He recorded seven combined tackles, including one solo tackle, before leaving that game. Thursday will mark his fourth consecutive missed game, another setback for a player who has struggled to stay healthy throughout his NFL career.
The third-year linebacker showed his potential during the 2024 season, recording 90 combined tackles, five sacks, four passes defended and an interception returned for a touchdown
in 13 games. However, injuries have limited him to seven regular-season appearances since the start of 2025, including just one this season.
Rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham has been helping fill the void left by Overshown and is expected to continue playing an important role against Tampa Bay. Barham has appeared in all four games for Dallas, making three starts while recording 21 combined tackles, including 12 solo tackles, and one forced fumble. Although he has yet to record a sack, the rookie has already gained considerable experience in Overshown's absence.
The Buccaneers enter Thursday's matchup still searching for their first victory, with undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels preparing for his second NFL start. Tampa Bay has struggled to establish consistency on offense, but Dallas has had its own defensive problems, allowing 389.5 total yards per game over four weeks.
Overshown is one of three Cowboys players officially ruled out for Thursday, joining cornerback Cobie Durant and offensive tackle Drew Shelton. With Dallas missing another defensive starter, Tampa Bay has an opportunity to take advantage of a defense that has struggled to keep opposing offenses off the field.
