Traditional depth charts provide only a partial picture of how the Baltimore Ravens intend to use their personnel.
Several players enter training camp capable of lining up at multiple positions, contributing in different packages or filling emergency roles. That flexibility will be valuable as head coach Jesse Minter and his staff install new systems on both sides of the football. Versatility can also determine who is active on game day. The more assignments one player can handle, the fewer specialists Baltimore must carry among its limited active roster spots.
Kyle Hamilton
Hamilton is the most versatile player on Baltimore’s roster and one of the NFL’s most flexible defenders. Calling him a safety does not accurately describe everything he provides.
The three-time
All-Pro can align deep, cover the slot, defend tight ends, play in the box or pressure quarterbacks from the edge. He recorded 105 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one sack last season.
Malaki Starks and Jaylinn Hawkins give Minter the freedom to move Hamilton closer to the line of scrimmage without weakening the deep secondary. Baltimore can also use three-safety packages that create uncertainty for quarterbacks before the snap.
Hamilton’s role may change from week to week depending on the opponent’s most dangerous weapon.
Marlon Humphrey
Humphrey can play outside cornerback or move into the slot in nickel packages. That flexibility should allow Chidobe Awuzie to align outside opposite Nate Wiggins when Baltimore uses three cornerbacks.
The Ravens can also use Humphrey as a matchup defender. His physicality makes him effective against bigger slot receivers and tight ends, while his experience allows him to handle complicated coverage adjustments.
Humphrey’s alignment will help determine the rest of the cornerback depth chart. If he spends most of his time inside, Baltimore will need Awuzie, T.J. Tampa or another cornerback to consistently handle the boundary.
Calais Campbell
Campbell has spent his career moving around on the defensive front. At 6-foot-8 and 307 pounds, he can play defensive end in Baltimore’s base defense before sliding inside in passing situations.
That flexibility will be especially valuable while Nnamdi Madubuike, Travis Jones and John Jenkins work their way back from the active physically unable to perform list. Campbell can help stabilize multiple positions without being limited to one assignment.
Baltimore should manage Campbell’s workload as he enters his 19th season. His ability to contribute from several alignments will allow the Ravens to deploy him in the situations where he can have the greatest impact.
Tavius Robinson
Robinson’s size gives the Ravens another defender capable of moving between the edge and interior. At 6-foot-6 and 262 pounds, he can set the edge against the running game, rush from an outside alignment or reduce inside on passing downs.
Trey Hendrickson and Mike Green are expected to handle prominent pass-rushing roles, but Robinson offers a different body type and skill set. He can give Baltimore a heavier front without requiring a complete personnel change.
His versatility should also make him useful against physical rushing attacks. Robinson can become an important part of the rotation even if he is not listed as a starter.
Emery Jones Jr.
Jones enters his second season with an opportunity to become Baltimore’s primary swing lineman. He played right tackle at LSU, but the Ravens have also worked with him at guard.
Offensive line coach George Warhop indicated during spring practices that Jones would not be an option at center. The ability to handle both tackle and guard remains valuable, particularly when teams typically activate only eight offensive linemen on game days.
Jones will compete for work at right guard while also preparing to back up Roger Rosengarten. Proving he can handle both responsibilities could secure his roster spot and make him Baltimore’s first option when injuries occur.
Hakeem Adeniji
Adeniji joined the Ravens immediately before training camp and brings experience at three offensive line positions.
The veteran has started at left tackle, right tackle, and right guard during his NFL career. He made one start at left guard for Dallas last season, further expanding his interior experience.
Baltimore does not need Adeniji to challenge Ronnie Stanley or Rosengarten for a starting job. The Ravens need him to provide reliable depth in several places. His ability to move between guard and tackle gives the coaching staff another option when assembling the game-day roster.
Adeniji’s late arrival means he must learn the offense quickly, but his experience should help him handle the transition.
Adam Randall
Randall may possess the most unusual offensive skill set among Baltimore’s rookies. He began his Clemson career as a wide receiver before moving to running back for his final season.
The 6-foot-3, 232-pound rookie rushed for 814 yards and 10 touchdowns while catching 36 passes for 254 yards and three scores in 2025. His receiving background gives offensive coordinator Declan Doyle the option to move him around the formation rather than treating him exclusively as a traditional runner.
Randall is also competing for the kickoff-return job after averaging more than 23 yards per return at Clemson. That creates three potential avenues to the roster: running back, receiving option and special teams contributor.
Justice Hill remains Derrick Henry’s established backup, leaving Randall to compete with Rasheen Ali for the next spot. His flexibility could become his greatest advantage in that battle.
Versatility will shape Baltimore’s final roster
Hamilton, Humphrey and Campbell already have established roles. Their flexibility gives the coaching staff more options when constructing weekly game plans.
For players such as Jones, Adeniji and Randall, versatility could determine whether they dress on game day or earn a roster spot. Robinson falls somewhere between those groups as an established contributor whose multiple alignments should increase his defensive workload.
The depth chart will list each player at one position. Baltimore’s plans will ask several of them to handle considerably more.
