It's far too early for any Monday Morning Quarterback-style discussions on Joe Fagnano potentially being the future for the Ravens at the quarterback position, but what is clear is that the organization thinks very highly of the undrafted quarterback out of UConn.
Fagnano did more than earn the Baltimore Ravens’ third quarterback job. The undrafted rookie played well enough to generate trade interest from other teams. General manager Eric DeCosta revealed Wednesday that Baltimore received offers for Fagnano before finalizing its initial 53-man roster. The Ravens declined those opportunities because the former Connecticut quarterback had earned his place behind Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley.

said in a video shared by the Ravens.
DeCosta made it clear that the decision was based on performance rather than on Baltimore's concern about losing Fagnano to another team.
“It was Joe,” DeCosta said when explaining who won the job.
Fagnano entered training camp facing long odds. Undrafted quarterbacks receive limited practice repetitions, particularly when established players such as Jackson and Huntley sit atop the depth chart. Fagnano maximized his opportunities once the preseason began, displaying accuracy, composure and command of the offense.

His performance forced Baltimore to reconsider whether to carry only two quarterbacks. It also separated him from Austin Reed, who was waived during the 53-man reduction. The trade offers provided further evidence that Fagnano’s preseason production was noticed outside Baltimore. Quarterback depth is hard to find, and multiple teams entered the roster deadline searching for young players who could develop behind established starters.
Baltimore decided Fagnano’s potential was more valuable than whatever compensation was available. He can now continue learning behind Jackson and Huntley without being rushed into a significant role. DeCosta believes the Ravens have identified a young quarterback they can develop. Fagnano’s next challenge will be proving that his preseason success can become the foundation for a sustainable NFL career.
