Lamar Jackson needed only one game to strengthen his position among the early favorites for the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award. According to DraftKings, Jackson has the second-best MVP odds at +650 following Baltimore’s 41-23 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Buffalo Bills
quarterback Josh Allen is the favorite at +475, followed by Jackson, Chicago’s Caleb Williams at +700 and Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow at +900.Jackson completed 17 of 25 passes for 324 yards and one touchdown in the season opener. He added 40 yards and another score on seven rushing attempts, finishing with 364 total yards and no turnovers. His efficiency helped Baltimore overcome 10 penalties for 86 yards and the second-half loss of Zay Flowers, who exited with a hamstring injury.
Jackson consistently created explosive plays while directing an offense that finished with 506 total yards.
Jackson has already won two MVP awards, earning the honor following the 2019 and 2023 seasons. He finished second in the voting last season after leading the Ravens back to the playoffs.
One performance will not determine a season-long award, but Jackson’s debut reminded everyone why he remains a perennial candidate. If Baltimore continues winning and its new offense maintains this level of production, he should remain near the top of the race throughout the season.
