The Baltimore Ravens saw enough from Joe Fagnano during the preseason to prevent another team from getting an opportunity to acquire him.
Baltimore will keep the undrafted rookie quarterback on its initial 53-man roster, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The decision gives the Ravens a quarterback room featuring Lamar Jackson, Tyler Huntley and Fagnano.
It also marks the first time since 2023 that Baltimore has carried three quarterbacks on its initial roster.
Fagnano earned his place by delivering one of the Ravens’ most consistent preseason performances. The former UConn quarterback completed 56 of his 75 attempts for 509 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. His 74.7% completion rate reflected the accuracy and command he displayed throughout
the summer.

That means Baltimore will keep three QBs on the initial 53-man roster for the first time since 2023.

Keeping Fagnano required Baltimore to dedicate an additional roster spot to the position. The Ravens could have waived him and attempted to bring him back on the practice squad, but doing so would have allowed another team to claim him.
His preseason production apparently made that risk too significant.
Jackson remains firmly established as Baltimore’s starting quarterback, while Huntley provides an experienced backup who already knows the offense. Fagnano can now develop as the third quarterback without being exposed to the waiver wire.
The roster decision completes an unlikely rise for a player who entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent. Fagnano played seven college seasons between Maine and UConn before joining the Ravens following the 2026 NFL draft.
Baltimore has built a reputation for finding contributors after the draft, and Fagnano becomes the latest undrafted rookie to earn an immediate roster spot. He may not be expected to play meaningful snaps behind Jackson and Huntley, but his performance gave the Ravens enough confidence to make room for him.
