The Baltimore Ravens entered Weeks 4 and 5 looking for answers on an offensive line repeatedly tested by injuries. General manager Eric DeCosta and the front office responded with a move that no one saw coming. They added a two-time Pro Bowler who knows how to play center at a high level.
Baltimore acquired Cam Jurgens from the Philadelphia Eagles. Head coach Jesse Minter believes the move will strengthen the roster immediately. Philadelphia receives a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick. Baltimore receives seventh-round compensation in next year's draft to sweeten the deal.

Minter spoke with the Baltimore media on Wednesday. He opened his press conference by praising the acquisition and thanking the front office for making it happen.
"Shout out to Eric [DeCosta] and the front office for acquiring Cam Jurgens from the Eagles... We're really excited about that. I think he will make our team better. It's obviously a position where we have had a rash of injuries."
Injuries obviously created the need. Minter's explanation, however, revealed that Baltimore's interest in Jurgens goes far beyond simply finding another available offensive lineman.
Cam Jurgens' experience and versatility stood out to the Ravens
Coach Minter was asked what makes Jurgens such a strong fit for Baltimore's offense. He pointed to the extensive background he built in Philadelphia. He also credited Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland and the environment Jurgens developed in while playing alongside elite veterans.
"He's played in multiple offenses. They have run about every different type of run scheme and every different type of protection scheme. He has been really well-trained, I would say... Jeff Stoutland is, I think, the guy that really kind of trained him, [who was] a highly, highly regarded offensive line coach. He has played with a lot of really good players. He kind of caught the tail end of Jason Kelce helping him develop."
The Ravens have shuffled personnel throughout the first month of the season, making versatility especially valuable. Minter believes Jurgens brings the experience to adapt quickly.
Ravens value Cam Jurgens' football intelligence
Beyond the physical tools, Minter repeatedly emphasized Jurgens' mental approach to the game. AlthoughJurgens is currently working through concussion protocoland isn't expected to play Sunday night against the Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore expects his transition to move quickly because he's already experienced a variety of systems.
"He is a good athlete. Mentally, he is at a really high level, I would say... We will have to catch him up. Obviously, the terminology will be different for him, but with a guy like that, with the experience of having gone through a few different offenses, that will probably end up benefiting him now."
The Ravens acquired Jurgens because they needed help on the offensive line. Based on Minter's comments, however, Baltimore believes it added much more than depth. The organization sees Jurgens as a versatile, highly intelligent lineman whose experience and adaptability make him an ideal fit for an offense trying to weather injuries and continue building momentum.
