The Baltimore Ravens will have a completely different quarterback depth chart for Thursday night's matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars after losing Tyler Huntley for the rest of the 2026 NFL season.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, further testing revealed that Huntley suffered a season-ending turf toe injury during Sunday's 36-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Huntley will undergo surgery, eliminating another experienced quarterback from Baltimore's roster. The Ravens are also without Lamar Jackson, who suffered a right thumb injury against Buffalo and is headed to injured reserve. With their top two quarterbacks sidelined, head coach Jesse Minter has turned to undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano, while Kedon
Slovis and Austin Reed provide additional depth.
Ravens updated quarterback depth chart entering Week 9
QB1: Joe Fagnano
Fagnano will make his first career NFL start Thursday against Jacksonville. The former UConn quarterback completed 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards with an interception after replacing Huntley against Buffalo.
The rookie is also dealing with an ankle injury after taking a low hit from Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver. However, Fagnano participated fully in Tuesday's practice and has been preparing to start on a short week.
QB2: Kedon Slovis
Baltimore signed Slovis from the Green Bay Packers' practice squad and immediately added him to its 53-man roster.
The former USC, Pittsburgh, and BYU quarterback has appeared in two regular-season games, both with Arizona in 2025. Slovis completed one of two passes for a minus-2-yard gain during those appearances.
His limited experience and unfamiliarity with Baltimore's offense create challenges, though his previous relationship with quarterbacks coach Israel Woolfork could help speed up his preparation.
Practice squad: Austin Reed
Reed returned to Baltimore's practice squad Monday after previously spending time with the organization during training camp and the preseason.
His familiarity with the offense gives the Ravens another option if they need an additional quarterback. However, he would need to be elevated or signed to the active roster before he can play.
Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley remain sidelined
Jackson's thumb injury requires surgery, and his recovery timeline remains uncertain. If he lands on injured reserve, he'd miss at least four games. Huntley's situation is more definitive. His season is over, leaving Baltimore without the quarterback who served as Jackson's primary replacement. The injuries have transformed the Ravens' quarterback situation in less than a week and placed enormous responsibility on Fagnano. Baltimore enters Thursday's matchup at 4-4 after three consecutive losses. Jacksonville is 5-2, making Fagnano's first start a difficult assignment against a team competing near the top of the AFC standings.
With no established veteran starter available, Baltimore must rely on its running game, defense, and an inexperienced quarterback group to remain competitive until Jackson's situation becomes clearer.
