Robert Longerbeam’s time with the Baltimore Ravens has ended, but the former sixth-round pick will receive another developmental opportunity with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles announced Tuesday that they signed Longerbeam to their practice squad after the cornerback cleared waivers. Baltimore released him Saturday while reducing its roster ahead of the NFL deadline.
The Ravens selected Longerbeam with the No. 212 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft after he completed a productive career at Rutgers. He brought 4.39-second speed, extensive Big Ten experience and a track record of disrupting passes.
Longerbeam never had an opportunity to build momentum during his rookie season. A knee injury sustained during his first training camp sent him
to injured reserve before he could appear in a preseason game. He returned this summer and recorded 11 tackles across Baltimore’s three preseason contests. That work was not enough to survive one of the deepest position battles on the roster.

Baltimore entered camp with Marlon Humphrey, Nate Wiggins, Chidobe Awuzie and T.J. Tampa among its established cornerbacks. Younger players and special-teams contributors were also fighting for limited places at the bottom of the depth chart. Longerbeam now joins an Eagles organization that has consistently taken chances on talented defensive backs. Philadelphia also had an immediate need for developmental cornerback depth after Kapena Gushiken was claimed by Indianapolis.
Longerbeam will attempt to leverage his speed and experience into a future role while continuing to distance himself from the knee injury that cut short his rookie season. For Baltimore, the move closes the book on a draft selection whose development was interrupted before it could properly begin.
