Lamar Jackson’s most encouraging practice development yet has not settled whether the Baltimore Ravens quarterback will return against the Cincinnati Bengals.
According to The Ringer's Tom Pelissero, Jackson got most of the first-team reps Friday and looked good on the field. However, a final decision on his availability could wait until Sunday morning. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler separately reported that a source described Jackson’s chances of playing as “50/50.”
Jackson is listed as questionable after being listed as limited in all three practices this week. He has missed two games and the second half of Baltimore’s Week 4 victory over Tennessee because of an ankle injury.
Jackson identified the injury as a high ankle sprain Friday, saying he was “heading
in the right direction.” He also emphasized that returning without his usual mobility would do his team a disservice.
That makes his ability to move effectively more significant than simply taking practice repetitions. The Ravens must determine whether Jackson can protect himself, navigate the pocket, and provide the movement that makes their offense difficult to defend.
Through four appearances, Jackson has completed 70.8% of his passes for 967 yards, six touchdowns and one interception, posting a 119.6 passer rating. He has added 144 rushing yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.
Tyler Huntley has gone 1-1 in Jackson’s absence, helping Baltimore beat Atlanta before last week’s 13-10 loss at Cleveland. The Ravens enter Sunday at 4-2, with Jackson’s availability remaining the central question against a rested Cincinnati team.
