Baltimore Ravens center Cam Jurgens entered the concussion protocol with the Eagles, and he'll return to the field as part of Jesse Minter's revamped offensive line. Jurgens is nearing the end of concussion protocol, giving the team optimism about his potential debut Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
Coach Jesse Minter said Monday that Jurgens is in the “finishing stages” of the protocol, according to The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec. Minter said the Ravens expect to know more Wednesday but feel good about his progress.
Baltimore acquired the two-time Pro Bowl center from Philadelphia last week while he was in the protocol. Jurgens missed Sunday night’s game against Atlanta, delaying his first appearance with the Ravens.
The latest update keeps Jurgens
on the timeline Minter outlined after the trade, when he identified the Cleveland game as the likely target for his debut. Jurgens still needs to complete the protocol before the team can confirm his availability. His arrival would address a position Baltimore has spent the past two weeks patching together. Injuries to Jovaughn Gwyn and Ethan Pocic forced rookie Vega Ioane to move to center, making Jurgens an important addition as the Ravens work to stabilize their offensive line.

Minter previously praised Jurgens’ experience in different offensive systems, athleticism, and understanding of protections. Those qualities could help him adjust to Baltimore’s terminology as he prepares to take over in the middle.
Wednesday’s update should clarify whether the Ravens can put their new center in the lineup against Cleveland.
