Chris Moore turned an early-season opportunity into a permanent spot on the Baltimore Ravens’ active roster.
The Ravens officially signed Moore from the practice squad to their 53-man roster Wednesday, filling the opening created when rookie wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane was placed on injured reserve following wrist surgery. Moore earned the promotion after registering a career-high 174 all-purpose yards in Baltimore’s 41-23 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. His performance included a clutch 53-yard reception during the fourth quarter as the Ravens pulled away for their first victory of the season.
The veteran receiver also contributed in the return game, adding value beyond his role in Declan Doyle’s offense.
Moore spent the summer competing for
a roster spot before returning to the organization on the practice squad. His familiarity with Baltimore’s personnel and system allowed the Ravens to trust him with an immediate role in Indianapolis, and he responded with one of the most productive all-around performances of his career.

Lane underwent wrist surgeryWednesday and must miss at least four games after being placed on injured reserve. Head coach Jesse Minter said Baltimore is targeting the minimum injured reserve stay, although Lane’s recovery will determine when he can return. Moore now provides experienced depth behind Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Devontez Walker. His ability to contribute as a receiver and return specialist should keep him in the mix while Lane recovers.
Baltimore did not have to look outside the organization for a replacement. Moore’s performance against Indianapolis made him the logical choice to fill the opening.
