The Baltimore Ravens are still without their top wide receiver, but Zay Flowers appears to be making progress toward a return. Flowers was the only player on Baltimore’s roster who did not participate in Wednesday’s practice, according to Brian Wacker. Ravens coach Jesse Minter previously described the undisclosed issue as minor.
Although Flowers did not join his teammates, the wide receiver was seen running the length of the field while working off to the side, according to Jamison Hensley. That activity is an encouraging sign that Flowers could be approaching the next stage of his return.
Flowers did not practice last week and remained out Monday. Baltimore has not provided a specific timetable, but the Ravens have little reason to rush their
No. 1 receiver with 11 days remaining before their regular-season opener against the Indianapolis Colts.
The extended preparation period gives Flowers time to increase his workload gradually before returning to team drills. Baltimore can also manage his snaps once he rejoins practice, ensuring the Pro Bowl receiver is ready for Week 1 rather than forcing him back for an early-September workout.
Flowers is entering the season as the centerpiece of Baltimore’s receiving corps after establishing career highs with 86 receptions and 1,211 receiving yards in 2025. His quickness and ability to create after the catch will be important as the Ravens install Declan Doyle’s offense around Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry and Mark Andrews.
The Ravens will want Flowers to receive enough practice work to restore his timing with Jackson. For now, his running session and Minter’s description of the injury suggest Baltimore is exercising caution rather than dealing with a significant long-term concern.
