Derrick Henry and Bijan Robinson enter Sunday night’s Ravens-Falcons matchup with different styles and production that make both central to their offenses. Henry has rushed for 374 yards and seven touchdowns through four games. Robinson has 494 rushing yards and 614 yards from scrimmage, giving Atlanta a threat who can punish defenses on the ground and through the air.
Henry offered his own assessment of Robinson this week.
“He’s the best in the game right now,” Henry said
Their meeting at Mercedes-Benz Stadium brings together a 32-year-old veteran still producing touchdowns at an exceptional rate and a 24-year-old whose receiving ability expands what an offense can ask of its running back.
Similar workloads, different results
The workload difference is small. The production difference is meaningful.
Robinson has gained 120 more rushing yards on four fewer carries. Henry has scored three more rushing touchdowns. Robinson has been more efficient at generating yardage; Henry has been more productive at turning rushing opportunities into points. Those numbers also reflect blocking, opponents, field position, and play selection. They do not isolate either player’s performance from the offense around him.
Henry combines power with the speed to finish
At 6-foot-3 and 252 pounds, Henry presents a conundrum to opposing defenders before you even consider his acceleration. Defenders must stop his momentum, contend with his reach and stiff-arm, and maintain pursuit angles if he breaks into the secondary. Calling him only a power back overlooks what happens after he clears the line. His ability to build speed makes a missed tackle dangerous well beyond short-yardage situations.
His recent production supports that distinction. Henry rushed for 1,921 yards at 5.9 yards per carry in 2024, then followed with 1,595 yards in 2025. He scored 16 rushing touchdowns in each season. This year, his seven rushing scores have helped Baltimore even as his average has fallen to 4.2 yards per carry. The Ravens need more consistent gains Sunday, particularly with Tyler Huntley starting for the injured Lamar Jackson.

Henry can help by creating manageable passing situations and finishing scoring drives. Baltimore cannot assume that handing him the ball repeatedly will accomplish either against Atlanta’s strong run defense.
Robinson changes direction and changes the coverage problem
Robinson combines balance, acceleration, and the ability to change direction without surrendering much speed. He can press a running lane, draw defenders toward it, and cut into the space their movement creates. That makes defensive discipline essential. Beating a blocker is not enough if the defender abandons the gap Robinson ultimately attacks.
He also has the strength to survive contact. The difference from Henry is emphasis, not a simple division between power and finesse. Both can break tackles and turn an opening into a long gain. Robinson’s receiving role creates another layer. Atlanta can use him as an outlet, run routes against linebackers, or move him out of the backfield to influence coverage. A defense must account for him even when he doesn't get a handoff.

That versatility was evident last season, when he caught 79 passes for 820 yards. Henry caught 15 for 150. Their current receiving totals continue that difference in usage. Henry can contribute through the air, but Robinson’s receiving workload makes him a more frequent part of Atlanta’s passing attack. For Baltimore, stopping the run cannot mean losing track of him once he releases into a route.
Their offensive lines face different circumstances
Baltimore has spent the opening month adjusting at center, with rookie Veg. a Ioane filling the position after injuries. The trade for Cam Jurgens offers a longer-term answer, but Jurgens is ruled out Sunday with a concussion. Guard Andrew Vorhees is listed as questionable with a foot injury. That leaves Henry dependent on a line still working through personnel changes. Without Jackson, Huntley retains a running threat, but Atlanta will face a different quarterback challenge when defending Baltimore’s option and play-action concepts.
Atlanta’s outside-zone running game asks its blockers to work together while Robinson reads the developing lanes. Ravens defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver praised the Falcons’ offensive-line cohesion and their receivers’ willingness to block this week. Those perimeter blocks matter. They can keep a modest gain alive long enough for Robinson to reach open space. Chris Lindstrom is a key piece inside, while left tackle Jake Matthews is listed as questionable with a groin injury despite returning to full participation Friday.
Sunday will test more than the rushing totals
Baltimore needs to set firm edges, protect cutback lanes,s and pursue Robins as a group. Roquan Smith and Kyle Hamilton must finish tackles and not let their receiving opportunities become another source of explosive plays. The Ravens’ offense needs Henry to keep Huntley out of difficult down-and-distance situations. If Atlanta crowds the run, Baltimore must make the Falcons defend throws behind that pressure rather than relying on Henry to overcome every unfavorable look.

"My respect for him is out of this world. ... I'm really excited to get to watch him play in person. He's one of the role models who I look up to."

Robinson enters with more yardage. Henry enters with more rushing touchdowns. Both can determine the game, but the more valuable performance may belong to the back who sustains drives and finishes the opportunities his offense creates.
