Ravens rookie tight end Matt Hibner was carted to the locker room with a hand injury during Sunday night’s game against the Atlanta Falcons and is listed as questionable to return. Baltimore announced Hibner’s injury designation shortly after the rookie left the field on a cart, creating another injury concern for a position group already without veteran Durham Smythe.
The Ravens lost Smythe to a season-ending torn Achilles in last week’s win over the Tennessee Titans. His absence opened the door for Hibner and fellow rookie Josh Cuevas to take on larger roles alongside Mark Andrews.

Baltimore also signed veteran tight end Nick Vannett to the 53-man roster following Smythe’s injury. Vannett provides
another blocking option as the Ravens adjust their personnel at the position. Hibner’s departure could further complicate those adjustments. If he cannot return, Baltimore would have one fewer option for its multiple-tight-end packages, potentially placing more responsibility on the remaining players in both the passing game and blocking assignments.
