The Ravens created unnecessary drama, but several positive developments and factors helped them survive the Cowboys and improve to 2-1 in the regular season. With a get-right matchup against the Titans looming, we're examining everything that went right on Sunday night.
Lamar Jackson was efficient
Jackson completed 75% of his pass attempts, averaged 9.3 yards per pass, and finished with two touchdowns, no turnovers, and a 136.7 passer rating. Dallas did not sack him.
Baltimore controlled the ground
The Ravens rushed for 192 yards and averaged 5.1 yards per attempt. Henry carried 26 times for 89 yards and two touchdowns, while Jackson added 50 yards on six attempts.
Zay Flowers looked healthy
Flowers returned after missing Week 2 and immediately restored an explosive element to the offense. He caught five passes for 84 yards and added
a 20-yard run.
Special teams changed the game
Keondre Jackson blocked Brandon Aubrey’s 59-yard field-goal attempt during the third quarter. Loop finished the afternoon by converting a 56-yard game-winner as time expired.
The Ravens won the turnover battle
Trenton Simpson recovered Jake Ferguson’s fumble during the third quarter. It was the game’s only turnover and prevented Dallas from potentially taking the lead.
Baltimore still has plenty to correct, particularly in the secondary and short-yardage offense. The difference Sunday was that the Ravens produced enough winning plays to overcome those shortcomings.
