The Baltimore Ravens' hopes of ending a two-game losing streak disappeared almost as quickly as Lamar Jackson's return to the starting lineup Sunday, with the Buffalo Bills cruising to a 36-10 victory at Highmark Stadium.
Jackson, who missed three games with a high ankle sprain, suffered a right thumb injury on Baltimore's first offensive snap when his throwing hand struck Bills pass rusher Greg Rousseau. The Ravens ruled Jackson out in the first quarter, and backup Tyler Huntley subsequently exited with a toe injury, leaving undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano to make his regular-season debut.
Buffalo improved to 6-1 behind Josh Allen, who completed 21 of 34 passes for 289 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. The Bills generated 426 total yards and controlled
possession for 37 minutes, 36 seconds.
Baltimore fell to 4-4 after managing just 144 yards, 10 first downs and three turnovers.
Ravens' quarterback injuries change everything
Huntley completed two of four passes for no yards before leaving the game. Fagnano finished 10 of 21 for 91 yards and an interception, while Baltimore's quarterbacks combined for only 68 net passing yards after four sacks.
The Ravens briefly remained competitive because of their defense. Broderick Washington intercepted Allen, setting up Derrick Henry's rushing touchdown, while Roquan Smith forced a fumble that T.J. Tampa Jr. recovered.
Baltimore trailed 16-7 at halftime and moved within 16-10 on Tyler Loop's 26-yard field goal in the third quarter. Henry also had a 10-yard touchdown erased by a holding penalty against Ronnie Stanley.
Buffalo responded by scoring the game's final 20 points.
Buffalo overwhelms Baltimore in second half
Allen found Dalton Kincaid and D.J. Moore for touchdowns, while James Cook finished with 80 rushing yards and a score. Moore caught four passes for 82 yards, including a 49-yard reception, and Kincaid added 86 yards on four catches.
Henry finished with 53 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Justice Hill led Baltimore with four receptions, while Zay Flowers was held without a catch on five targets.
The Ravens have now been outscored 68-3 after halftime over their past three games.
Baltimore faces Jacksonville on Thursday night, giving the team little time to resolve its quarterback injuries or correct the offensive problems exposed in Buffalo.
