Zay Flowers’ importance against Tennessee extends beyond how many passes he catches. If the Ravens Pro Bowl wide receiver plays on Sunday, Baltimore can use his speed and versatility to test the Titans horizontally and vertically while creating opportunities for other playmakers.
Flowers, who returned from a hamstring injury against Dallas last week, is listed as questionable for Week 4. His availability would give offensive coordinator Declan Doyle another way to challenge a Tennessee defense that has kept the winless Titans competitive.
Flowers can change how Tennessee defends Baltimore
Flowers enters Sunday averaging a league-leading 23.4 yards per reception among players with at least 10 catches. That figure highlights his explosive production, although it does not distinguish between gains
created downfield and yards added after the catch.
Baltimore can threaten both. Motion can force defenders to adjust before the snap and help Lamar Jackson identify coverage, while Flowers’ ability to turn a short completion into a substantial gain demands reliable tackling. Vertical routes present another challenge, potentially drawing safety attention away from other targets.
Baltimore’s other weapons could benefit
If Tennessee commits more attention to Flowers, Mark Andrews and Rashod Bateman could find better opportunities elsewhere. His presence also complicates how aggressively the Titans can concentrate on Derrick Henry without leaving themselves vulnerable through the air.
Those advantages still depend on execution and Flowers’ workload. Baltimore does not need to force targets his way to benefit from his presence. Using him to influence coverage could help Jackson distribute the football and give the Ravens a more varied attack.
