The Ravens’ trade for Cam Jurgens carries a smaller financial commitment than his contract's headline value suggests.
According to The Ringer's Tom Pelissero, Baltimore has Jurgens under contract for four years at approximately $51 million after accounting for money Philadelphia already paid. That works out to about $12.75 million per year in remaining compensation. Jurgens’ original deal averaged $17 million annually. The difference matters for Baltimore, which acquired him to play center after his move to guard in Philadelphia.
While $17 million a year is a lot for subpar guard play, it’s a bargain for a top-shelf center. And after the money Philadelphia has already paid him, the Ravens now have Jurgens under contract for four years and about
$51 million ($12.75 million average)—less than half the $27 million a year the Raiders gave Tyler Linderbaum to lure him out of Baltimore back in March. Jurgens is owed about $16 million cash through the end of the 2027 season. But like most Eagles contracts, Jurgens’s deal includes option bonuses and void years that knock down his cap number, which will be under $1 million for the rest of this season and under $5 million in 2027.
Pelissero reported that Jurgens is owed approximately $16 million in cash through the end of the 2027 season. His salary-cap charge will be under $1 million for the remainder of this season and under $5 million in 2027. Those figures describe different costs. The cash obligation reflects what Baltimore pays, while option bonuses and void years affect when the contract counts against the cap. The low near-term charges do not reflect the deal's full cost.
The remaining annual average also is less than half the $27 million per year Pelissero cited for Tyler Linderbaum’s contract with Las Vegas after he left Baltimore in March. For the Ravens, the appeal is securing a two-time Pro Bowl center with manageable immediate cap charges. They still paid a substantial draft price, including a 2028 second-round pick, but the contract makes that investment more affordable.
