The Baltimore Ravens have enough talent to field one of the NFL’s most dangerous offenses, but coordinator Declan Doyle wants the unit defined by more than its personnel. Doyle said he wants Baltimore’s offense to be known for three qualities: being detailed, physical, and explosive.
Each trait will be essential as the Ravens transition to a new system built around Lamar Jackson. Details include proper alignment, timing, assignments, and communication. Baltimore cannot take full advantage of its talent if penalties, protection errors, or missed responsibilities repeatedly put the offense behind schedule.

Explosiveness may ultimately determine the offense’s ceiling. Jackson can create game-changing plays with his arm or legs, while Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Baltimore’s other playmakers give him multiple options in space.
Doyle first introduced those three nonnegotiable characteristics after accepting the position, and his message has remained consistent throughout the offseason. The Ravens’ new coordinator has repeatedly emphasized physical, detailed, and explosive football as he installs his system. Baltimore’s Week 1 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts will provide the first meaningful measurement of that vision. Doyle will call a regular-season NFL game for the first time, and the Ravens must execute the offense without exposing everything they plan to use during the season.
The personnel creates considerable potential, but talent alone will not establish Baltimore’s identity. Doyle wants an offense that can punish defenses physically, avoid self-inflicted mistakes, and produce explosive plays from anywhere on the field.
