What a difference a few months makes. The Baltimore Ravens have assembled one of the NFL's deepest groups of edge rushers, but don't confuse 'change' with organizational confusion about Mike Green's future. It's year two, and confidence is as high as it's ever been. Speaking with reporters on Wednesday
, general manager Eric DeCosta expressed confidence that Green is prepared to take a significant step forward in his second season.While discussing the team's outside linebacker corps, DeCosta repeatedly highlighted Green's growth, work ethic, and willingness to seek feedback. The praise was notable because it went beyond a conversation about his physical talent. DeCosta described Green as a player committed to improvement, someone who actively
seeks coaching and embraces criticism rather than avoiding it.
"[Mike Green] is a sponge. [He has a] great mentality. He is always asking me for feedback, which does not happen all the time. A lot of guys do not want to ask the general manager how they are playing."
Talent has never been the question with Green. His challenge mirrors that of many young pass rushers, turning potential into consistent production against NFL competition. DeCosta believes Baltimore has created the ideal environment for that growth. Confidence in the veteran presence and coaching staff clearly starts at the executive level.
Ravens believe Green has the right people around him
Saying this never gets old. As everyone probably knows by now, the Ravens added Trey Hendrickson this offseason, giving Green daily access to one of the league's most accomplished pass rushers. DeCosta specifically pointed to Hendrickson's influence while also crediting head coach Jesse Minter, defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, and outside linebackers coach Harland Bower for helping accelerate Green's development.
"I think he is really going to benefit from Trey [Hendrickson] in a lot of respects. I think he is going to benefit from Jesse [Minter], and he is going to benefit from 'Weave' [Anthony Weaver], and he is going to benefit from Harland [Bower]."
The Ravens clearly view their outside linebacker room as one of the roster's strengths. DeCosta even described the group as having seven players capable of contributing on Sundays, making sure to mention practice-squad edge rushers Kaimon Rucker and Adisa Isaac. Green remains a central part of those plans.
"I do feel like he is going to make a jump this year."
The Ravens won't need Green to carry the pass rush on his own. With Hendrickson leading the room and a talented supporting cast around him, Baltimore has created a situation in which Green can continue to develop while still making a meaningful impact. Based on DeCosta's comments, the organization expects exactly that to happen in 2026.
