Ravens rookie Ja’Kobi Lane received a reminder that his NFL journey began long before he arrived in Baltimore.
Fanatics shared a video of Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Marcus Allen welcoming Lane to the league with a signed Raiders jersey. Lane spoke about the conversations he has shared with Allen and the guidance that helped him reach the NFL. He then began reading the personal message Allen wrote on the jersey.
The message brought Lane to tears as the meaning of the moment settled in.

The connection stretches beyond their NFL careers. Allen became a USC legend after rushing for 2,342 yards
and winning the Heisman Trophy in 1981. The Raiders selected him 10th overall in 1982, and he went on to win NFL MVP and Super Bowl XVIII MVP before entering the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Lane followed his own path from USC to the NFL. Baltimore selected the 6-foot-4 receiver with the 80th overall pick in the third round of the 2026 draft after he scored 18 touchdowns across three college seasons. He caught 92 passes during his final two USC seasons.
The signed jersey represented more than a collectible
Lane has spent the summer earning praise for his size, hands and red-zone ability. His emotional reaction showed how much the people who helped him reach Baltimore continue to mean to him.
