Quarterback evaluations can change quickly in the NFL. One strong performance can restore confidence. A string of wins can make an uneven résumé look more convincing. A collapse can resurface questions a promising start temporarily pushed aside. Week 7 in the AFC North delivered all three scenarios, sending the division's four starting quarterbacks in very different directions ahead of Week 8.
Three teams in the division came away with victories in Week 7. We knew going into Sunday that either the Baltimore Ravens or the Cincinnati Bengals would lose. They settled their divisional showdown on the field. That left four starting quarterbacks with very different performances to evaluate, from a spectacular second-half turnaround to a collapse that raised
fresh questions about a backup's ability to handle an extended run as the starter.
Think of this as the division's quarterback stock market. Individual stocks rise or tumble based on recent performance, and this week's results created some compelling investment opportunities, along with a few reasons to keep your money in your pocket. Here's an evaluation of where every current starting quarterback stands.
Tyler Huntley, Baltimore Ravens
Tyler Huntley arguably played one of the best halves of football we've seen from him, then delivered a second half that could hardly have gone worse. Huntley helped build a 13-0 halftime lead against Cincinnati, only to watch the offense disappear after the break as the Bengals scored 35 unanswered points.
In the stock market, a sudden, steep price decline is often called a falling knife. The warning is simple: Don't rush to buy while the price is still dropping, because there's no guarantee it has reached the bottom. Huntley's stock isn't necessarily headed for a complete collapse, particularly with Lamar Jackson potentially returning to the lineup, but the last two weeks have changed the conversation about his ability to carry the offense for an extended stretch.
The interception on a tipped pass and the failed fourth-down conversion that ended one of Baltimore's opportunities to respond will linger. Huntley wasn't responsible for every offensive problem, and you shouldn't dismiss his 298 passing yards. Still, the production didn't translate into enough points, and the second-half collapse exposed the difference between putting up respectable numbers and consistently leading a winning offense.
The question isn't whether Huntley can play. He's shown that he can. It's whether he's a viable option for several consecutive weeks if Jackson remains unavailable. The recent evidence makes that a much tougher investment to justify.
Week 7 stats: 34 passing attempts, 23 completions (67.6%), 298 yards passing, one TD, one interception
Verdict: Huntley's stock is falling quickly.
Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow returned from a week off looking like a quarterback who needed a little time to get comfortable. Then he found his rhythm, and the Baltimore defense had no answer. The Bengals star led five consecutive touchdown drives, turning a 13-point halftime deficit into a commanding victory.
Burrow completed 22 of 30 passes for 292 yards and four touchdowns without throwing an interception. His accuracy and ability to capitalize on opportunities helped transform the game, while his connection with Cincinnati's receivers became increasingly difficult for Baltimore to contain.
That's the kind of performance that can send a stock soaring. Burrow didn't merely benefit from his defense creating opportunities. He turned momentum into points, repeatedly punishing a Ravens defense that couldn't slow him down. One game doesn't erase every concern about Cincinnati, but Burrow's second-half performance reminded everyone what the offense can look like when he gets rolling.
Week 7 stats: 30 passing attempts, 22 completions (73.3%), 292 yards passing, four TDs, zero interceptions
Verdict: Burrow is one of the NFL's clearest momentum stocks, trending sharply upward.
Deshaun Watson, Cleveland Browns
Deshaun Watson's stock is an interesting case because his latest performance wasn't necessarily a showcase of quarterback efficiency, but it ended with another Browns victory. He threw for 308 yards against the Tennessee Titanswithout a passing touchdown and threw one interception, but he also ran for a score as Cleveland won 27-24.
The larger case for Watson rests on his ability to help Cleveland close out games. He's thrown seven touchdowns against three interceptions across seven games, and the Browns have won five times, with Watson leading a drive to put them in position to win in each victory. That matters when evaluating a quarterback whose value isn't captured by a single box score.
There are still reasons for caution. The interception and lack of passing touchdowns against Tennessee show that Watson isn't consistently producing the kind of aerial performance that would make his stock soar. But winning remains a meaningful part of the evaluation, and his ability to run gives Cleveland another way to finish drives.
Watson isn't necessarily generating excitement among investors, but his team keeps finding ways to win. For now, that makes him a hold rather than a buy-high or sell-low candidate.
Week 7 stats: 36 passing attempts, 25 completions (69.4%), 308 yards passing, zero TDs, one interception, one rushing TD
Verdict: Watson's stock is holding steady at a potential investment grade.
Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh Steelers
At times, traces of the old Aaron Rodgers still emerge. At other times, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback looks more like a player managing games than one capable of taking them over. The numbers rarely overwhelm, but Pittsburgh's 16-10 win over the New Orleans Saints extended its winning streak to two games and kept the team moving in the right direction.
Rodgers completed 19 of 30 passes for 212 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. It wasn't a spectacular outing, but avoiding costly mistakes helped the Steelers secure a road victory in a game where points were hard to come by.
The concern is that Pittsburgh's offense hasn't consistently looked impressive as a unit. Rodgers can still make the occasional high-level throw, but those flashes haven't reliably translated into a passing attack that puts opponents away. A winning record offers some reassurance, yet it doesn't automatically mean the offense is ready to compete with the league's best.
For now, Rodgers looks like an average investment: steady enough to hold, but not someone whose recent performance demands a major increase in confidence. Investors looking for a breakout might want to wait until Pittsburgh shows more consistent offensive production.
Week 7 stats: 30 passing attempts, 19 completions (63.3%), 212 yards passing, one TD, zero interceptions
Verdict: Rodgers' stock is holding steady around average, and buyers may want to wait.
The AFC North's quarterback market looks considerably different after Week 7. Burrow's surge has raised his value, Watson continues to benefit from winning, and Rodgers remains a steady but unspectacular option. Huntley, meanwhile, faces the biggest questions of the group. His first-half production showed what he can offer, but his inability to sustain it leaves Baltimore weighing what it can reasonably expect if he has to stay under center.
