Lamar Jackson remained absent from practice Thursday, increasing the possibility that Tyler Huntley will make a second consecutive start when the Ravens visit Cleveland on Sunday. Jackson continues to recover from the ankle injury he suffered during Baltimore's Week 4 win over Tennessee. After missing the win over Atlanta and Wednesday's practice, the two-time MVP was off the field again at the start of Thursday's session.
The Ravens have not ruled Jackson out. Coach Jesse Minter has described his status as day-to-day and said he could play without practicing. Still, another missed session makes Huntley's preparation increasingly important as Baltimore approaches its first AFC North matchup. Offensive coordinator Declan Doyle emphasized Thursday
that Jackson must remain involved in the mental side of preparation even while he cannot practice, helping him stay ready whenever he is cleared to return.

Huntley has already shown he can keep Baltimore competitive. He helped the Ravens rally to a 30-23 overtime win in Atlanta, providing a strong starting point if Jackson needs another week. Against Cleveland, the priorities would be protecting Huntley, supporting him with Derrick Henry and Justice Hill, and creating manageable passing situations. Baltimore needs enough efficiency to sustain drives without asking its backup quarterback to rescue the offense late again.
The standings add urgency. Baltimore enters at 4-1, one game ahead of the 3-2 Browns. A victory would put the Ravens two games ahead of Cleveland and give them an early head-to-head advantage. A loss would leave the teams tied at 4-2, with the Browns holding that advantage.
Jackson's continued absence makes another Huntley start look increasingly likely. It remains an assessment, however, rather than an official game designation. Baltimore's immediate task is to prepare Huntley to handle a division game while leaving Jackson's availability up to his recovery.
