The Baltimore Ravens’ offensive-line concerns increased when Ronnie Stanley left Sunday’s loss to New Orleans with a toe injury. Stanley had been listed as questionable entering the game but was cleared to start. His second-half departure forced Baltimore to adjust as the offense struggled to protect an eight-point lead.
The Ravens must determine whether Stanley can recover in time to face Dallas in Brazil. His status will affect both the starting lineup and Declan Doyle’s protection plan. Carson Vinson and Gerad Lichtenhan are among Baltimore’s available tackle options. The Ravens could also provide additional help through tight ends, running backs, and formations designed to prevent clean one-on-one rushing opportunities.
Dallas’ defense will
attempt to force Baltimore into obvious passing situations. That became a problem against New Orleans after the Ravens took possession at the Saints’ 49-yard line with an opportunity to extend their lead.
Baltimore instead lost 16 yards and punted.
Lamar Jackson’s mobility can cover some protection problems, but the Ravens cannot ask him to rescue every unstable pocket. The first priority is learning whether Stanley can play. The second is establishing a credible alternative if he cannot.
