Former Baltimore Ravens safety Silas Walters has landed another NFL opportunity following his release at the roster deadline.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Walters to their practice squad while releasing safety Rashad Wisdom, according to Greg Auman. The move gives Tampa Bay a young defensive back who displayed encouraging instincts and ball skills during Baltimore’s preseason.
Walters signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Miami (Ohio) and entered training camp competing in a crowded secondary. He did not earn a position on Baltimore’s initial 53-man roster or practice squad, but his preseason performance created enough positive film to attract interest from another team.
His most notable play came during Baltimore’s 13-3 victory
over the Minnesota Vikings. With Minnesota threatening to score late in the fourth quarter, Walters read quarterback Max Brosmer, jumped the route and secured an interception that allowed the Ravens to close out the game.
Walters finished the preseason with seven solo tackles, one interception and one pass breakup. Although those numbers were not enough to earn a place in Baltimore, he demonstrated the range and awareness necessary to warrant additional development.
The Buccaneers are replacing Wisdom, who initially joined the organization as an undrafted free agent from UTSA in 2024. He appeared in three games for Tampa Bay during the 2025 season before returning to compete for a roster position this summer.
Walters will now have an opportunity to learn Tampa Bay’s defense while contributing on the scout team and potentially on special teams.
