The Baltimore Ravens will be without their most accomplished edge rusher when they host the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
Trey Hendrickson has been ruled out for the Week 4 matchup because of a finger injury. Hendrickson did not practice this week, making Friday’s designation unsurprising even though he played through the issue during Baltimore’s 34-31 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
It will be Hendrickson’s first missed game since joining the Ravens on a four-year, $112 million deal during the offseason. The four-time Pro Bowl selection has recorded one sack, three quarterback hits, and a tackle for loss through three games. His impact has extended beyond those modest totals because offenses must account for his first step and ability to win from
multiple alignments.

Baltimore will likely lean more heavily on Tavius Robinson, Mike Green, Zion Young and Ethan Burke along the edge. Robinson leads the Ravens with two sacks and six quarterback hits, while Green and Roquan Smith have each contributed one sack. The Ravens have produced five sacks as a team, including only one against Dak Prescott last week. They did record seven quarterback hits in Brazil, but consistently finishing pressures remains an issue. Hendrickson’s absence removes the player with the strongest history of converting disruption into sacks.
That places additional responsibility on Baltimore’s interior defenders. Calais Campbell generated six pressures against Dallas, according to Pro Football Focus, while Nnamdi Madubuike played 47 snaps in his season debut. Madubuike’s ability to collapse the pocket could create cleaner opportunities for Baltimore’s younger edge rushers.
Tennessee has protected Cam Ward better than it did during his rookie season. Ward has been sacked only five times through three games and was not taken down during last week’s loss to the New York Giants.
Without Hendrickson, Anthony Weaver may need to manufacture pressure through overloads, simulated rushes, and Kyle Hamilton’s versatility. Baltimore can't get reckless, though. Ward has been significantly more productive late in games, making coverage discipline as important as getting him off his spot.
The Ravens still have enough depth to disrupt Tennessee. They will now need that depth to produce without the centerpiece of their offseason pass-rush overhaul.
