The Baltimore Ravens are not planning to trade Derrick Henry before Tuesday's NFL deadline, despite a four-game losing streak and increasing speculation about the future of several veteran players.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Baltimore recently told Henry it has no intention of trading him. League sources indicated that the Ravens have not seriously considered moving the five-time Pro Bowl running back, even after injuries to Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley significantly changed the team's outlook.
The report comes two days after Baltimore suffered a 33-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, dropping to 4-5 and extending its losing streak to four games. Henry, 32, remains one of Baltimore's most important offensive players, and the organization's
decision to keep him suggests general manager Eric DeCosta isn't preparing for a wholesale roster teardown before the deadline.
Ravens have no plans to trade Derrick Henry
Speculation around Henry intensified after Jackson's thumb injury and Huntley's toe injury, leaving Baltimore searching for answers at quarterback.
Jackson underwent surgery and was placed on injured reserve, while Huntley is expected to miss the remainder of the season. The injuries raised questions about whether Baltimore would consider trading veteran players for future draft capital.
However, Schefter reported that the Ravens have not entertained the possibility of dealing Henry.
Speculation has also centered on potential reunions with former Ravens coach John Harbaugh, now with the New York Giants, or Mike Vrabel, Henry's former coach in Tennessee, who now leads the New England Patriots.
According to ESPN, the Giants did contact Baltimore about a running back, but their inquiry involved Justice Hill rather than Henry. The report provides a clearer picture of Baltimore's intentions as the organization approaches Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline.
Derrick Henry wants to help Ravens turn season around
Henry addressed the trade speculation following Thursday night's loss to Jacksonville, making it clear that he has not requested a move from Baltimore. The veteran remains focused on helping the Ravens correct their recent struggles rather than seeking an opportunity elsewhere. Henry rushed for 57 yards on 17 carries against Jacksonville and moved into seventh place on the NFL's all-time rushing list, passing Jerome Bettis and LaDainian Tomlinson.
He now has 13,707 career rushing yards, placing him within 394 yards of Curtis Martin's sixth-place total of 14,101.
Despite Henry's individual accomplishments, Baltimore's offense has struggled to establish consistency. The Ravens have scored fewer than 14 points in four straight games for the first time in franchise history, forcing offensive coordinator Declan Doyle to find new ways to generate production.
Henry remains central to Baltimore's offensive plans, especially as a new quarterback prepares to take over.
Jacoby Brissett trade signals Ravens aren't giving up
Baltimore officially acquired veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett from the Arizona Cardinals on Friday, adding an experienced starter while Jackson recovers. The Ravens received Brissett and a 2027 fifth-round pick in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round selection and a 2028 seventh-round pick.
Brissett is expected to start against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, Nov. 16, giving Baltimore a quarterback with extensive experience managing NFL offenses.
Keeping Henry gives Brissett an established rushing threat who can create manageable passing situations and keep opponents from focusing exclusively on Baltimore's passing game. The Ravens also created more than $8.6 million in salary cap space by restructuring Nnamdi Madubuike's contract, giving DeCosta additional financial flexibility before the trade deadline.
Those moves suggest Baltimore is attempting to remain competitive rather than beginning a complete rebuild.
What's next for Derrick Henry and Ravens?
The Ravens have a difficult task ahead after four straight losses and falling below .500, but their upcoming schedule offers chances to regain momentum. Baltimore will host the Chargers in Week 10 before traveling to face the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans. For Henry, the objective remains helping the Ravens establish a productive running game and providing stability for an offense adjusting to Brissett.
The possibility of Baltimore making other roster moves remains open, but the organization has reportedly made its intentions clear regarding Henry.
With Tuesday's trade deadline approaching, the Ravens appear committed to keeping their most accomplished offensive playmaker as they attempt to salvage their season and remain competitive in the AFC playoff race.
