Zay Flowers has needed relatively few opportunities to make a significant impact on Baltimore’s offense. According to Ravens Communications, entering Week 4, Flowers leads NFL players in at least 10 receptions across four efficiency categories, pairing explosive gains with consistent production.
Flowers ranks first in yards per route run (9.4), yards per reception (23.4), successful offensive-play rate (84.6%), and expected points added per target (1.48). He has caught 10 of his 12 targets for 234 yards and a touchdown despite missing Baltimore’s Week 2 loss to New Orleans with a hamstring injury.
Flowers is delivering more than explosive yardage
The yards-per-catch figure illustrates how quickly Flowers can change field position, but the other categories add context. Yards per route run accounts
for opportunities when the ball goes elsewhere, while EPA per target measures how those chances change the offense’s expected scoring outlook.
His successful offensive-play rate also suggests the production extends beyond a few long receptions. Baltimore gets meaningful returns when Flowers is involved, giving Lamar Jackson a receiving threat that complements Derrick Henry’s ground production.
The sample remains small
Flowers’ hamstring injury has limited his early-season workload, and the 9.4 yards-per-route figure should be viewed as an exceptional start rather than a sustainable projection. Additional routes and targets will provide a clearer picture.
Flowers is listed as questionable for Sunday’s matchup against Tennessee after being listed as limited Friday for rest. If available, he gives Baltimore an opportunity to build on an encouraging September and pursue its first home victory of the season.
