The Baltimore Ravens will be without one of their young offensive playmakers for at least the next four games.
Head coach Jesse Minter announced Wednesday that rookie wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane underwent wrist surgery and will be placed on injured reserve. Veteran Chris Moore will replace Lane on Baltimore’s 53-man roster.
According to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, the Ravens are targeting the minimum injured reserve stay for Lane. Players placed on injured reserve during the regular season must miss at least four games before becoming eligible to return.
Lane’s absence temporarily removes a big-bodied receiving option from an offense that displayed significant potential during Baltimore’s 41-23 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The rookie earned
a vital spot on the initial 53-man roster after a productive summer and was expected to add size and athleticism behind Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Devontez Walker.

Moore gives Baltimore an experienced replacement who already knows the organization and offensive personnel. He spent the entire offseason with the Ravens before joining the practice squad and can contribute as a reserve receiver and on special teams.
Baltimore is also monitoring Flowers, whom Minter described as day-to-day. The Pro Bowl receiver is in a “good spot,” according to Minter, but his status adds more significance to Moore’s arrival ahead of Sunday’s home opener against the New Orleans Saints.
Lane will now begin his rehabilitation with the possibility of returning after the minimum four-game absence. His recovery and conditioning will ultimately determine whether he is ready when first eligible or requires additional time before rejoining the lineup.
