The Baltimore Ravens are keeping a familiar veteran running back in the organization as they begin assembling their practice squad. Running back Jonathan Ward is re-signing with Baltimore's practice squad following the establishment of the team's initial 53-man roster.
Ward gives the Ravens an experienced option behind a running back room that currently includes Derrick Henry, Justice Hill and Rasheen Ali. Baltimore also placed rookie Adam Randall on injured reserve with a designation to return, creating an additional reason to maintain experienced depth at the position.
Ward initially joined Baltimore's practice squad in December 2025 but was never elevated to the active roster. The Ravens brought him back on Aug. 16 during training camp while
dealing with injuries and evaluating the depth behind Henry and Hill.

The 28-year-old originally entered the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He has also spent time with the New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants and New England Patriots.
Ward has appeared in 46 regular-season games, rushing for 91 yards on 22 carries while adding six receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown. His value goes beyond his offensive statistics. Ward has extensive experience in reserve and special teams roles, making him the type of veteran Baltimore can keep available if injuries create a need during the regular season.
The Ravens finalized their initial 53-man roster over the weekend and can carry up to 16 players on the standard practice squad as they establish additional depth ahead of Week 1.
