all of training camp. It will come down to probably that last week when we're going into it, because I think all three of them are doing a really good job with it. The Ravens want the right answer, not the fastest one.
It's a sensible approach when considering the importance of the position. The center serves as one of the offense's primary communicators, helping organize protections while developing chemistry with quarterback Lamar Jackson and the rest of the offensive line. Those responsibilities can't always be evaluated in a handful of padded practices. The Ravens also have the luxury of patience. Rather than watching one player separate himself from the field, Baltimore has three viable candidates capable of pushing one another throughout camp.
Joint practices and preseason games should provide the most meaningful evaluation periods, particularly once the offensive line begins facing unfamiliar defensive fronts. Until then, the Ravens appear content letting the competition play out naturally.
For Baltimore, identifying the starting center isn't simply about naming a winner. It's about ensuring one of the offense's most important positions belongs to the right player when Week 1 arrives.
