Baltimore produced 506 yards and won its opener by 18 points, but the afternoon created several issues that will follow the Ravens into Week 2.
The most immediate concern is the receiving corps.
Zay Flowers was ruled out with a hamstring injury after catching five passes for 150 yards and one touchdown. Ja’Kobi Lane was ruled out with a wrist injury, while Devontez Walker did not play because of a groin injury. Baltimore finished the game with Bateman, Moore and Wester as its healthy receivers. The offense was noticeably less explosive after Flowers departed, although Moore delivered a 53-yard reception. Penalties represent the most correctable concern. Hill followed a false start with a holding penalty that turned third-and-6 into a difficult situation.
The secondary also sustained several scares. Tampa went to the locker room, while Humphrey briefly remained down and received attention from the medical staff before returning. Indianapolis’ early offensive success also deserves examination. The Colts marched 59 yards for a touchdown on their opening possession and eventually rushed for 133 yards. Taylor finished with 98 yards and two scores.
Baltimore’s talent allowed it to overcome those problems against Indianapolis. The same mistakes could prove more costly against a stronger opponent, making health and discipline the priorities before facing New Orleans.
